In March 2008, Parliament authorised the creation of a new unitary authority called Central Bedfordshire Council. The council replaced the authorities of Mid Bedfordshire District Council and South Bedfordshire District Council. The Order can be viewed via this link.

We review the electoral and boundary arrangements of councils to make sure they are fair. Our reviews include at least two rounds of public consultation before we make recommendations for change.

Effective date

The District of Mid Bedfordshire (Electoral Changes) Order 2001 was made on 20 December 2001.

Officers within the council will now make sure the new arrangements are in place for elections held in May 2003.
